Miyetti Allah: Is Saraki Sending Shivers Across Board?

Bloomberg News reported that Senate President Bukola Saraki said he is considering running for President in 2019. This received a wide response in Nigeria as President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking a second term in office. However, Bukola Saraki said he is only consulting. He has not declared and the recess of the National Assembly is a perfect time for him to do so. The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association has come out to say that he (Saraki) should resign from his position or be forced to do so. Interesting times.

This is coming from the National coordination of the group in Benue State Alhaji Garus Gololo who was interviewed by the Punch Newspaper.

“It is on this note that we are saying that Saraki ought not to be in office again as Senate President, more so, Saraki has failed to coordinate and organize the National Assembly to offer quality legislation that Nigerians need.

“Nigerians are in dire need of people that have the interest of the masses. Miyetti Allah is looking for a leader that would preside over the affairs of the Senate with ultimate respect for the executive and the judiciary, not someone like Senator Saraki that would always scheme to outdo the Presidency.

“We are now tired of Saraki’s style of leadership at the National Assembly. Therefore, we are now warning him to honourably resign his position as president of the Senate or we will force him out”, Gololo said, refusing, however, to explain how the association would remove the Senate president. (Punch News).

While the popularity of Bukola Saraki is still in question especially with his response and revelation to Bola Tinubu, I think the difference will be between the lovers of democracy, those who really are educated to appraise the activities of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government and those who know that Bukola Saraki learnt his political skills under a learned environment.

Why is everyone bothered about impeaching him in a very undemocratic manner that is now the invention of Adams Oshiomhole? Everyone has the right to aspire to the Presidency and in fact, with a WAEC certificate, you are qualified to do so. Let the argument of political capital and popularity be decided by the Nigerian people are the polls.
