The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that the sale of JAMB forms will no longer start this December but will begin in January 2019.
This was disclosed by Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Head, Media and Information of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, organizers of the UTME while speaking to newsmen Lagos on Tuesday.
According to Dr Benjamin, they planned to start the sale of forms in December but with the reduced price of forms by the Federal Government they had to change the date till January 2019.
“The attention of the board has been drawn to information going round in some social media that JAMB has already begun the sale of forms for UTME.
“We are not commencing the sale of the forms until January 2019, and the window period will be for six weeks.
“Prospective candidates should note this period in order not to fall prey to fraudsters,’’ he said.
He said that the Board will make adequate publicity when the sales begin and also comply with the new directive to reduce the price of forms by the government.
President Muhammadu Buhari last Wednesday announced that price for the forms will now be 3,500 naira from the initial price of 5,000 naira.
The reduction was announced by the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu. According to him, “the cost registration for Senior Secondary Certificate Examination charged by the National Examination Council will also reduce – from N11,350 to N9,850 – while that of Basic Education Certificate Examination, also charged by NECO, will reduce from N5,500 to N4,000.” (Leadership)
The minister said that the reduction would become effective from January 2019.
