    New Platform in Kenya To Report Rape Cases Via SMS


    With over 5,490 rape cases recorded in Kenya, women are now using an SMS platform to report rape using a toll-free messaging service so that survivors can break their silence. This was said by the Initiative’s founder on Thursday last week. Although Kenya has so many hotlines to report rape cases by victims of sexual attacks, this particular platform by a charity Wangu Kanja Foundation is the very first that connects victims with community volunteers who provide them with direct support.

    95% of Rwanda Now Has 4G LTE Internet

    In 2013 during the Transform Africa Summit ktRN unveiled a 4G LTE network in Rwanda with a rollout plan of five years across the rest of the country. It is now four years gone and the entire country is almost covered with 4G LTE network in a joint partnership with ktRN which happens to be the only wholesale and infrastructure company in Rwanda.

    Genocide Survivors in Rwanda Get New Homes

    The Genocide Survivors Assistance Fund (FARG) in Rwanda have announced that 1,104 survivors of the Genocide of 1994 against the Tutsi would receive new homes by the end of the year. The survivors have been hosted and lived with good Samaritans and relatives.

    President Kagame Speaks on His Successor

    Rwandan leader President Kagame has responded to a question on who will succeed him as President. The question was thrown at him during the Mo Ibrahim Governance Summit in Kigali. He responded by saying that the answer to that question is for the people of Rwanda and Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) to decide.
