Islamic State West Africa (ISWA) a faction of Boko Haram has killed Saifura Ahmed a humanitarian worker that was abducted in Rann, Kala Balge local government area of Borno state.
He was abducted during an attack of a military facility on March 1 that led to the death of at least four policemen, soldiers and humanitarian workers.
Hauwa Leman who was one of the abducted humanitarians sent a voice message to a friend of hers telling her to inform her parents that she has been kidnapped.
This is based on a report by Sakilda Ahmad for Cable Newspaper. Leman and Alice Ngaddah (mother of two) are still in captivity after the killing of Saifura Ahmed.
Ahmed works with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) while the other two are with UNICEF.
The insurgents in a video that was released claimed to have reached out to the government but there was no response.
“We contacted the government through writing and also sent audio messages but the government have ignored us. So, here is a message of blood,” said a spokesman of the group who did not give his name.
“The other nurse and midwife will be executed in similar manner in one month, including Leah Sharibu.”
Leah Sharibu is one of the 110 girls kidnapped by Boko Haram from Dapchi, Yobe State and is still being held in captivity for refusing to renounce Christianity. 104 of the girls were released while 5 died in transit.
The International Committee of the Red Cross has confirmed and also issued a statement on it.
