The All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted their Presidential primaries across the States in the federation.
The presidential primaries had the State governors as returning officers while the states with no APC governors had the Senators and Ministers play that role.
The APC under the leadership of Adams Oshiomhole agreed to adopt direct primaries to elect their flagbearers. However, President Muhammadu Buhari is the only candidate that was able to get the 45-million-naira form.
Some states like Imo under Rochas are using the indirect primaries/delegates.
In a statement by the National Working Committee (NWC), “The National Working Committee (NWC) has appointed respective State Governors to serve as returning officers for the presidential direct primaries holding across the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday, September 28th, 2018.”
“In states where there are no governors on the party’s platform, senators along with the ministers are to serve as returning officers for the exercise.”
With the process completed on Friday 28th September 2018, President Buhari has won himself while attending the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
He will receive his flag as the 2019 Presidential candidate of the APC on his return.
A few of those cleared had reasons (like Adebayo Shittu in Oyo state) for not having NYSC certificates while some like Aisha Al-Hassan from Taraba State has no reason.
The rest were described as not cleared without reasons while some candidates that have been campaigning under the APC platform did not make the list like Kenneth Okonkwo in Enugu State.
Imo State has 9 candidates including Uche Nwosu, Hope Uzodinma, Eze Madumere among others.
Lagos State has Akinwunmi Ambode, Kadir Obafemi Hamzat and Jide Sanya-Olu all cleared. The complete APC Governorship List can be seen below;
