The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has advised Nigerian youths aspiring to be President in 2019 to shelve their ambitions for President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said this during the 2018 International Youth Day that took place in Adegbemile Cultural Centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Governor Akeredolu added that for Nigerians youths to grab the Presidential seat they must engage in constructive analysis instead of frivolities.
“Let me state it that the youths will have to wait till 2023 before running for the presidential seat.”
“Because this is when Buhari would have completed his second term in the office by God’s grace.”
“The older generation may not want to allow you (youth) because they will continue to dream dreams.”
“But you can beat them to it if only you can see visions with your vision and your intellectual capacity, Akeredolu said.
He assured the youths of his support whenever the need arises while urging them to take up leadership positions in the society.
He also said there is need for for young Nigerians to come up with sound innovations that will further propel development in the country.
The theme for this year’s International Youth Day celebration is “Safe Space for Youth” and was organized by the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development.
